University of Utah Stadium and Arena Event Services
My name is Nicky McMillen, I am a Parks, Recreation and Tourism major with an emphasis in Hospitality Management. I am completing my internships for the University of Utah's Stadium and Arena Event Services Guest Services Department. I graduated from West Linn High School in Portland Oregon in 2011 and will graduate from the University of Utah in the Spring of 2015. I have been working at Rice Eccles Stadium and the John M. Huntsman Center since August of 2012 and was promoted to Guest Services Supervisor in July of 2014 to complete my internship credit hour. I am currently managing a staff of 147 ushers and ticket takers.
My daily responsibilities include scheduling, staff deployment, payroll, creating invoices and receiving guest feedback. During events I oversee 147 ushers and ticket takers, we take care of everything from getting our guests into the stadium to fixing every unfavorable guest experience. Our department coordinates with our contracted security company, Venue operations, police, parking enforcement, Utah department of transportation and the Utah Transit Authority to ensure that every aspect of our guest's experience is exceptional. This section of my website is going to walk you through my experiences as a Senior Student in the Parks, Recreation and Tourism program and how my coursework has prepared me to be a valuable asset in the work place.
